There they sat, the nurse and the patient, in a parking lot within eyesight of their destination.

“What’s the matter?”

“She has back pain.”

“Why didn’t you take her to the hospital?”

“She needs to be seen right away.”

“It doesn’t work that way.”

“Don’t tell me, I used to work in the ER”

“Then you  should know better.”

“She feels dizzy, too”

She did know better. Silly me.

    I hate to admit it but I’ve used my “inside knowledge” to play the system once. I won’t go into details but afterward I felt rather guilty about it. Deception is not a good thing, even if you *I* benefit in the end.
