The man that was forced to shoot the kid who was shooting other students may be a hero, but I know other heroes who had to shoot a kid, and the experience is anything but heroic when replayed over and over and over, when sleep is elusive, alcohol abundant and PTSD creeping in from every corner.

A boy is dead, a girl in critical condition, a police officer hailed as a hero but would prefer he never had to do his job and live with the fact that a troubled kid with a gun is dead by his hand, parents grieve, friends cry, a community is shattered and we spend a day telling each other I told you so, and out clevering each other on social media, and our country sinks further into chaos.

This is our America, and it is a diseased society.
